Dine Brands CEO to take over as interim Applebee’s president

US-based Dine Brands CEO John Peyton is to take up the additional responsibilities as interim president of its subsidiary Applebee’s while carrying out his current CEO duties.

The announcement comes as Applebee’s president Tony Moralejo steps down from his role on 4 March 2025.

Moralejo will continue to serve as an advisor for the company until 4 June.

A search for a new Applebee’s president with expertise in brand stewardship, restaurant operations and marketing is underway.

As interim president, Peyton will lead the brand, collaborating with the executive team and franchisees to drive growth in critical areas such as digital experience, menu innovation, in-restaurant dining, off-premise services and domestic expansion.

Peyton said: “Tony and I share a deep respect for the DNA of Applebee’s and we are all grateful for his contributions since he took on this role two years ago. He has navigated a challenging economic environment, led an outstanding team, and strengthened our relationships with franchisees.
